Day 17: Christmas in Hotel Quarantine

Dear Diary,

Day 17 of 21. Merry Christmas!!

Currently kicking myself in the imaginary balls as I somehow missed the sign up for the turkey dinner drive hosted by Kunj Ghandhi from the Hong Kong Quarantine Support Group on Facebook and with McSorley’s Restaurant to bring Christmas Turkey Dinners to Christmas Quarantiners.

I effing loooooooove classic turkey dinners! I love them more than my husband and kids!! (Hashtag sorry not sorry). And since being in HK, I haven’t had a proper turkey dinner in years! My love for them is as passionate as how Salt Bae salts his meat. As deliriously in love as JLo and Ben Affleck was back in 2002 (wow that joke aged…well?)

I spent most of yesterday and half of today depressed after scrolling the spam of photos in the Facebook Group. I think this has been the lowest point of my quarantine. I never thought it would be a missed connection with a plate of turkey that drives me off my quarantine rockers.

7:45pm the dreaded dinner knock at the door. It was a day I couldn’t be bothered with another lame dinner. I wanted Kunj’s turkey damnit! Lo and behold as I opened my box of dinner, I was presented with the most magnificent sight!

A turkey dinner accompanied by a piece of dry ham, some questionable looking brown goop, spaghetti with no sauce and a 1/4 container of chestnuts. But nevertheless, turkey!!!!! I was so happy I ugly cried (yes again)

Don’t believe me?

Here’s a screenshot from the video of my reaction. (Yes I documented my quarantine. Yes I will post it once I get around to editing it).

Have you ever seen someone so happy they were crying over turkey?

Thank you Regal Airport Hotel. Tonight you were that Prince on a white donkey, but nonetheless a prince arrived for my nom nom nom! 😋

Love,

A VERY Happy Vicky

PS. Liz, one of our comrades here in Quarantine Land at Regal Airport Hotel in Hong Kong created this in her room. Enjoy. Merry Christmas from our Quarantine Family to yours ❤️
